Drove a 135i M-sport today. I had such high, life changing hopes that this would be the most amazing automobile experience I’ve ever had.
Didn’t like it.
I’d never be able to push it to even half of its capability, so it just felt boring. Likely going with a E90 or E60 with the N52.

Pretty sure revoking of the Oppo Card is a trap for people who shouldn’t have Oppo Cards. Nothing wrong with not liking something.

Can’t really go wrong with either of those, as long as you get a good PPI and budget for the inevitable failures of plastic and rubber. I haven’t driven a 1 Series, but if you don’t really need the back doors, why not a 4 Series?

This is Oppo, not FP. Independent experiences are welcome.

Someones pimping out Oppo or something. My last post has almost 3k views (I’m lucky to get 175), and had many gray comments (though they were largely nice!)

Also, if you go the E60 route, feel free to ask what to look for. I’ve seen quite a few, between the two I ended up with.

But ultimate driving machine! Anything else you didn’t like? I’ve had similar experiences with BMWs but haven’t driven any M or M-sport cars so the jury is still out for me.

Like how you dismissed my rational reply there, buddy.

Pretty obvious only a few stories spread wide. Oppo’s clearly quite happy to eat their own.

Fun car means you can use 100% of it in any situation. Hence, 1996 VW Golf GL with 137xxx miles I know what I've got no lowballers is a damn fun car. 300 HP ain't shit when you weigh two tons.

The older I get and the more cars I drive, the more I appreciate smaller, less powerful cars. Yes my buddy’s S6 is a rocket ship, but it is just so big and completely unphased by driving that won’t get me arrested. Something smaller, lighter that I can take to redline everywhere I go is just more entertaining. Combine that with the more analog feel of an older car and I just don’t see the justification for spending 2-5x as much on a new super sedan.
I’d say that not getting caught in the new car shininess and getting something that actually speaks to you is very Oppo.

Putting review in the title of a post always draws the nutjobs out.

I am surprised but OK it’s going to be y our car end of the day. The 1 series feels a lot more tossable and lively compared to the other 2 due to it smaller size and weight . Perhaps try a 128i with the N52?
Can’t go wrong with an E90 or E60 N52 that silky smooth straight six is really something, drove the former for 5 years. Just budget for maintenance and repairs accordingly. Good luck!

Actually four doors is welcome. I think I’ve just always enjoyed large luxury cars more than tossable sports cars. I guess I just didn’t realize it until today.

I think I just realized that I prefer larger, less sporty cars. I’m TEVOC trained and just in no way are there roads in my part of the state that something as competent as the 135 can go to its limit without hitting “throw me in jail speeds” . There’s no drama, there’s no fun. I’d rather be in a 5 series and get excited about trying to hold it together, if that makes sense.

If you prefer larger less sporty cars like the 5 series perhaps a lexus GS350? Try out an Infiniti M37/Q70 as well. The infiniti especially has the older hydraulic steering and no-nonsense older infotainment and it comes with heathed and cooled seats and surround audio system. They’re both very reliable and maintenance can be done cheaper at a toyota/nissan dealer or indy shop.

Hahah I just went back and saw that idiot’s comment. Several morons like that came out of the woodwork on my jeep wrangler review as well. Forever in the grays.

I’m that case, ima recommend the E60 over the 4/4GC every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
